چکیده
The origin of geological depressions abounding on Mars and other planetary bodies remains poorly understood, partially due to the limited variability in settings existing terrestrial analogs. Here, we present a new analog that is located at northwestern margin Levantine volcanic field Harrat Ash−Shaam along Dead Sea Transform. site consists tens (locally named “juba”) morphologically resemble Martian bowl-shaped pits occur within Pleistocene basaltic plateau overlies Meso-Cenozoic carbonates. To constrain plausible formation mechanisms for juba depressions, carried out detailed mapping morphometric analyses using 0.25 m/pixel digital terrain model (DTM) derived from airborne light detection ranging (LiDAR) survey covering 34 km2 study area, centimeter-scale, ground-based LiDAR scans selected depressions. We show variable magnitudes slope asymmetry between north- south-facing walls with different degrees sediment infilling, provide effective proxies relative geomorphic maturity these landforms, turn indicate asynchronous after emplacement basalts area. Our findings preclude by phreatomagmatic explosions instead point toward collapse into missing subsurface volume. In broader context, propose developed herein distinguish can be extended better similar pit features bodies.

the rationale behind the present study is that particular learning strategies produce more effective results when applied together. the present study tried to investigate the efficiency of the semantic-context strategy alone with a technique called, keyword method. to clarify the point, the current study seeked to find answer to the following question: are the keyword and semantic-context metho...
15 صفحه اولCosmological Constraints on Terrestrial Planet Formation
During a marathon, a runner often does not know which position he is in. His nearest competitors are either so far ahead or so far behind that he doesn’t know where he stands. We earthlings are in a similar situation. We do not yet have a cosmic context for life. We don’t even know if there are other competitors. Approximately 5% of the sun-like stars surveyed possess close-orbiting giant plane...
متن کاملRecent developments in planetary Aeolian studies and their terrestrial analogs
This report summarizes the many advances that have been made in the study of planetary Aeolian processes that have taken place since the first Planetary Dunes Workshop was held in May of 2008, through 2011. Many of the recent studies are facilitated by the wealth and variety of high resolution imaging and spectra data still being returned by multiple spacecraft in orbit and on the surface of Ma...
